Scouts BSA is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. For over a century the BSA has provided a program for young people that builds character.
Trains them in the responsibilities of participating in citizenship and developing personal fitness. The BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun.

We are an active troop and strive to be a model for others.

Do you want to learn wilderness survival skills?  Ride horses? Go camping, swimming, hiking, canoeing, and boating? If you can see yourself doing these activities, or if you just want to become a better person and leader, Troop 351 is the place for you.

Big Bear

• Adult Leader for Activity or Campout with current YPT on file

Makes reservation and if necessary pays or ensures advanced payments are sent

• Determines cost to Scouts and Adults o Fees and Lodging o Transportation/Gasoline Cost o Food Cost

• Send out Flyer or fill Trip Info Sheet & distribute copies. (sheets in locker) o Coordinate departure time with all adults going.

• Sends out by email Permission Slip and provides at troop meeting. o Provide statement on number of planned stops on destination and return trip o Provide recommended amount of extra money per scout for trip

• Plans, prepares and directs activities, lessons, exercises at campout

• Searches and selects Little Bear if no volunteers have signed up

• Determines minimum number of vehicles need for transporting all scouts and adults

• Designate volunteers as “Troop Drivers” at least one meeting before campout

• Determines who drives Troop Trailer ensures Trailer is ready prior to departure

• Gets or ensure Trailer Driver gets keys

• Designate Cooking Coordinator (can be Big/Little Bear or select Adult Cooking Coordinator)

• Ensure Patrols get ice chest (and food box) at meeting before campout.

• Upon Arrival  *Check in at site *Designate Adult & Youth Sleeping Areas 

 

Little Bear

• Prepare signup roster including parents email address & phone o Starts signup 3 meeting before campout o Announces the activity campout o Brings sign-up sheet thereafter

• Collects all money from Scouts AND Adults who sign up o Start 2 meeting prior to campout o Notify parents 1 or 2 days before last meeting to send money.

• Provide Patrols with Food money at meeting prior to Campout

• Pay gasoline cost to “Troop Drivers” for actual gasoline estimated based on vehicle MPG.

• Pay other fees as necessary and returns unused moneys to Troop Treasurer

• Provides Advance Chair with attendees for Troop Master record

Adult Cooking Coordinator

• Plan menu with other adults

• Ensure cooking utensils are in Trailer

• Obtains money from Little Bear to purchase food

• Obtains a troop ice chest for BEAR patrol

• Designate meal preparers/washers Other Adult Leaders

• If designated “Troop Driver”, provide Little Bear with vehicle MPG.

• Volunteer to prepare at least one meal

• Gets one bag ice per patrol before departing.

General Guidelines Gasoline Reimbursement.

Designated Troop Drivers will get reimburse for cost of gasoline provided they have full or near full car load. Adults who are not designated “Troop Drivers” may take their own vehicles at their own expense.

Refunds.

Food cost may not be refunded if already purchased by the patrol. Unless there were pre-paid by the troop, fees and lodging costs are refundable. Gasoline cost may be refunded if the cancellation(s) causes the reduction in the number of Troop Drivers or unusual circumstances caused the cancellation.
